Julian Smith
Julian Smith is a Consultant Urological Surgeon whose primary NHS practice is at University Hospital Southampton but lives and works privately in Bournemouth. He specialises in Urological Oncology and in particular major pelvic surgery for bladder cancer. His research thesis was in prostate cancer screening, diagnostics and treatments and other specific interests are in urinary tract symptoms/problems passing urine, urinary tract infections (UTIs) and general urology.
Having a patient-centred approach, Julian has written the national guidelines for Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) for patients after major pelvic urological surgery and was nominated for the BAUS John Anderson Award. Allied with this he runs a charity section, ACTION Urology, part of Southampton Hospital Charity as he constantly pushes to support his patients.
On a personal level, Mr Smith is married with 2 children. He enjoys keeping fit and will pretty much play any sport to do this. He is a qualified level 1 FA grassroots football coach and on the weekends can be found on Whitecliff Park coaching the Lilliput U13 Lightning. He was voted Dorset FA U12 manager of the year for the 22-23 season!
