Dr David Shortland
David was appointed as a Consultant Paediatrician at Poole Hospital in 1989 and practiced there until 2021. He now practices privately in the Bournemouth area. He trained in various hospitals in the United Kingdom including Great Ormond Street , Bristol University Hospitals and Nottingham University Hospitals. He was awarded an MD thesis in Neonatology , has extensive research publications and was a Vice President of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health for 5 years. Subsequently he was appointed as the Lead Inspector for the Royal College.
As a general paediatrician he has experience in all areas of acute paediatrics including respiratory problems, feeding difficulties, heart disorders, bowel problems, allergies, infections and kidney abnormalities. He works collaboratively with many other paediatric specialists to provide truly holistic care.
Outside of work he plays guitar, writes and records musical pieces and tries to keep up with a hyperactive spaniel on local walks.
